Help Fight the DCPA
Hollywood Plants Its Flags in Our homes
In general, I try to keep politics out of my blog. Sure, I occasionally make a politically biased statement, but that’s part of being human. Today, I’m making an exception, and specifically asking you to help the Electronic Freedom Foundation defend our rights as consumers. The MPAA and the RIAA are trying to push new legislature though, called the ‘Digital Content Protection Act’. This law would mandate that any future recording device that is capable of accepting digital or analog signals have a circuit that allows the transmitting agency to control if it could be recorded. Technologies like Tivo’s and DVD recorders would be crippled and we will only be able to record shows if the broadcaster allows. This is only aimed at limiting our abilities and rights as consumers, and has no benificial effects for us as consumers. Please join the EFF and me in writing to our Representatives and Senators in asking them to keep the RIAA and MPAA out of our homes.
