The VOIP attack that could happen

Published by at 1:46 pm under Hacking

My friend Dan York over at the Voice of VOIPSA blog has written an excellent “It could happen” paper on using botnets to attack a Voice Over IP network.  He goes on to explain why many aspects of the scenario he lays out are fictional for now, but could be real in the near future.  Finally, he explains some of the safeguards we need to be putting in place to prevent the scenario from ever happening.

This is a long article, but well worth the read.  Dan makes it clear that this is not a present danger, but as VOIP becomes more prevalent in businesses, this will change.

Thanks for the tip, Martin. This goes into my “risks are increasing due to a lack of redundancy” file.
