Will,

I can still access the HD of the dead system, I just can't get it connected to the network. I've had some luck getting information off of the system with a USB key, but it's going to take some wizardry to get the remainder of my posts back from MovableType and MySQL. I'll bang on it some this coming weekend and see what I can do. I have several external HD enclosures I can use if it comes to that, but I think it'll be easier to try recovering it from a live system first.

I recently had a similar situation of almost data loss. Basically my main desktop died (either PSU of mobo, not sure at this point), and my last backup was a few months old. I bought a new laptop and a SATA/IDE to USB adapter.

I only received the adapter yesterday, but it was about as painless as could be to begin getting the data off my old hard drive within 15 minutes. This approach may work for you if you haven't figured something else out yet. What is nice about that particular style of adapter is you don't need to remount the hard drive anywhere, just take off the case, hook up the hard drive on one end and the USB adapter to the computer you want to back up to. It will show up as an external USB hard drive. Works on Linux beautifully too (went from a Debian desktop to an Ubuntu laptop).

Roman, thanks, but I have those. Some links may be broken, but I have the podcasts on about 4 different systems, between my home server, Libsyn and DVD backups. I just wasn't as careful with my blogging stuff.

Thanks anyways, let me know if you're experiencing any problems.

With regards to the podcast, do you need copies of the older ones? I believe I have most of them, so if you need them I can get them to you.
