The site has been loading great, I just have been on slow connection off and on, so every KB was counting for me... Cheers! :)

Marcin,

I enabled it, but I set the cache time low, 5 minutes rather than the 60 minutes it has by default. I figure that's a good compromise on speed and updating frequency. I may not post nearly that often but I still like the page to update fairly quickly. If I ever do get /.'d I can always change that quickly.

By the way, isn't this site already loading much faster than the old one? I know it is for me.

Martin, it doesn't work like that. WP Super Cache will regenerate the cache if there is a new comment or blog post. You can also tell it to "lock," which means new comments don't show up (though they are added to the database). That's only used when you're under really heavy load though -- like StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg and Slashdot and CNN all at once, lol.

Not to mention, your site will load much quicker. Turn it on!!!

Marcin,

I've installed the plugin, but I'm leaving it deactivated at the moment. I like having the site update instantly, rather than waiting for the cache to refresh. I'm going to activate it if I get /.'d, but otherwise I'll leave it off.

Thanks for the suggestion,

WP Super Cache hands down is the most important plugin to have next to Akismet (or Spambam, whatever you prefer). WP Super Cache will generate a static html file of each page, which even the crappiest of shared hosting providers will survive a slashdotting.
