They already do it with Quick time, I have to have QT installed to do iTunes. So it is is nothing new, don't like it though.

Martin, I agree with you; This practice is dishonest. Regardless of any other company’s practices, it's still dishonest.

What’s worse is that it doesn’t go away. Every time iTunes Update runs, I have to uncheck Safari. I'll stop using iTunes update. Instead, I’ll manually update once in a while. Maybe I’ll do that on a regular schedule like the second Tuesday of the month or something.

I don't agree with the Apple tactic either. The thing is those users are probably still going to use IE regardless. They probably don't even know what 'Safari' is. Is it fair that Microsoft enables ActiveX out of the box? Probably not. It's not a formidable web standard except for you need it to use Windows Update. Really, I know Apple is the target these days for pointing things out like this and I think the discussion is great because the Apple users will really benefit... I just think there seems to be an inequality in practice finger pointing. That's happened to Microsoft plenty and maybe now it's Apples turn. But, I find it somewhat interesting that everyone 'just focuses' on Apple these days with regards to the armchair bloggers.
