High profile targets

Published by at 3:56 pm under Blogging,Hacking,Security Advisories

I can’t add a lot to this discussion right now, since I know several of the parties involved, but I’ll point out some of the articles by others as I find them.

Targeted – PDP responds to the attack
Security researchers’ accounts ransacked in embarrassing hacklash – Light on the details, probably since no one directly involved is sharing.

My own guess is that an exploit was used against TypePad and WordPress to enable the hackers to display the passwords of the admins on the site. If you are using the same password on any other account, first hang your head in shame, then go change all your passwords. Wait, reverse that. Either way, if you’re a security blogger go take a look at your logs to see if there’s anything suspicous from last week.
