Network Security Podcast, Episode 206

Published by at 5:29 pm under Podcast

Zach couldn’t make it tonight, but Rich and Martin open the show with a call to our listeners for more email questions and topic suggestions. After answering a listener question last week, we realized it would be nice to engage with all of you a little bit more. But not too much… I mean we don’t want to touch you or anything.

We also spend a little time talking about how we handle our connectivity and security while at Black Hat and Defcon, which happen to be next week.

I have to say your advice for getting into the field lines up pretty well with what I have heard on other podcasts and blogs and their boards. It makes sense though. I was a little surpised to hear you recommend a CCNA. For those who are considering going for it but want an emphasis on security, there is also a CCNA Security cert. I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. I haven’t had the chance to look at it extensively, but so far it appears to be similar to the CCNP in technical content, if perhaps a little under that level, but with a greater emphasis on the non-technical aspects of security such as policy and planning.
